CRO PARLIAMENT PRESIDENT ANNOUNCES AGENDA OF NEXT SESSION

ZAGREB, Sept 15 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament President Vlatko Pavletic on Monday presented the agenda of the 21st session of the House of Representatives due to begin on 17 September and last, with adjournments, until 3 October. On 23 September Turkish President Suleyman Demirel would visit the Parliament and address the Croatian people via the Sabor, Pavletic said at a news conference in Zagreb. The agenda of the 21 session comprises 53 items, including 45 bills and several reports. In the first week the lower house is expected to consider a few bills on ratification of international conventions and agreements. Croatia has committed itself to ratifying the agreements within a year since its admission to the Council of Europe. On the agenda there are four bills on a thorough reform of the penal code and a bill on old-age pension insurance. According to Pavletic, MPs will discuss reports on the enforcement of the law on Croatian Homeland War veterans and on the execution of the state budget in the first six months of 1997.
