ZAGREB, Sept 12 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic on Friday
held talks over the phone with the chairman of the European Union's
Council of Ministers, Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jacques Poos, and
German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel, a spokesman of the Croatian
Ministry said in a statement.
Granic notified Poos and Kinkel about the successfully terminated
talks Croatian President Franjo Tudjman had scheduled in relation to a
decision of the Croatian Democratic Union Party of Bosnia-Herzegovina not
to take part in the Bosnian municipal election scheduled for 13 and 14
September.
Taking part in the talks were also the head of the Bosnian mission of
the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Robert Frowick,
Bosnian Croat political leaders, the high international representative for the
implementation of the Dayton peace accord in BH, Carlos Westendorp, and
his deputy Jacques Klein.
Granic pointed out OSCE's Frowick accepted the Bosnian Croats'
justified demands, and the Bosnian Croat political leadership agreed to take
part in the election.
Kinkel and Poos welcomed the agreement which ensured HDZ BH's
participation in the municipal election, and pointed out the President
Tudjman's significant role in reaching the agreement, the Croatian Foreign
Ministry statement concluded.
