PRESIDENT TUDJMAN GETS PRESIDENT SCALFARO'S LETTER - STATEMENT

STATEMENT $ ZAGREB, Sept 10 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman received a letter of Italian President Oscaro Luigi Scalfaro, Tudjman's office said in a statement on Wednesday. President Scalfaro thanked President Tudjman for a letter Croatian President had sent to him, and added that he shared the opinion of President Tudjman on the positive development of relations between the two countries, which had been recently intensified and evidently improved by the conclusion of several agreements on cooperation. Italian President believes that after the final resolution of still open questions, inherited from the past, a new and more fruitful period of the cooperation between the two countries should ensue, which might be crowned by the conclusion of a framework agreement on friendship and cooperation. Accepting President Tudjman's invitation to visit Croatia, President Scalfaro wrote that a meeting in Zagreb would confirm the reached level of bilateral ties and attach additional importance to the signing of the + friendship agreement.
