TUZLA, 22 Aug (Hina) - One person was killed and another was severely wounded Thursday afternoon in north-western Bosnia, in the separation zone between the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, on the Federation
territory, spokesman for the Stabilisation Force Sector North Jim Cronin told a press conference in Tuzla Friday.
TUZLA, 22 Aug (Hina) - One person was killed and another was
severely wounded Thursday afternoon in north-western Bosnia, in
the separation zone between the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina
and Republika Srpska, on the Federation territory, spokesman for
the Stabilisation Force Sector North Jim Cronin told a press
conference in Tuzla Friday. #L#
The incident, in which Fadila Mehmedovic (aged 46) was
killed and Sefik Karasuljic (aged 28) was wounded, happened at
around 6 pm when an unidentified person wearing camouflage opened
fire from a long-barrel weapon at a vehicle carrying four persons
(a woman, two men and a child).
According to Cronin, the incident happened one kilometre
from an SFOR checkpoint manned by Russian soldiers.
Tuzla Canton Prefect Sead Jamakosmanovic expressed concern
over the security situation in the separation zone in Tuzla-
Podrinje Canton. Yesterday's murder is the second one which
happened in the past seven days in that area, which is controlled
by Russian soldiers.
According to a report by local police in Celici, the
incident happened 20 to 25 meters from the Russian checkpoint.
Jamakosmanovic added that Federation army and police are
forbidden to carry arms in the separation zone.
An investigation into the incident is being conducted by
SFOR, International Police Task Force and local police.
