ZAGREB, Aug 20 (Hina) - In mid September Croatian Railways plans
to open to traffic a railroad between the eastern Croatian town
of Vinkovci and the northern Bosnian town of Brcko, which would
connect central Europe with Bosnia-Herzegovina via Osijek,
Croatian Railways said in a statement on Wednesday.
The said railroad would replace the use of some 150 trucks
which daily travel between Kaposvar in Hungary and Tuzla in
north-eastern BH, the statement pointed out.
The complete renovation of the secondary Osijek-Djakovo-
Vrpolje route (eastern Croatia) called for the reconstruction of
12 km of railroad from Cepin to Osijek, Croatian Railways said,
adding it also planned to reconstruct the Osijek-Gabos-Vinkovci
railroad which, due to large damage and 17 km of stolen tracks,
is in very poor condition.
