JOINT POLICE IN CENTRAL BH TO BE ESTABLISHED BY END OF MONTH

MONTH $ SARAJEVO, Aug 5 (Hina) - The establishment of a joint police force in the Central Bosnia Canton would begin on 11 August and be completed by the end of the month, the highest officials of said canton and of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina and representatives of the international community concluded at a Tuesday meeting in Sarajevo. In line with an agreement reached today, the Travnik-based Interior Ministry of the Central Bosnia Canton will be composed of 50 percent of Croats and 50 percent of Bosniaks (Muslims), and will start functioning on 11 August. The agreement was signed by Central Bosnia Canton prefect Ivan Saric, deputy prefect Adnan Terzic, the Canton's Interior Minister, Enes Handzic, Deputy Interior Minister Fabijan Trbara, and deputy International Police Task Force commissioner in BH Werner Schumm. The agreement points out that all police administrations on the Central Bosnia Canton territory will have one police station, except the Travnik police administration, which will have police stations in Travnik as well as in nova Bila. A compromise solution was reached in relation to the name of the police administration and police station in Gornji Vakuf, which will be called Gornji Vakuf - Uskoplje. It was agreed that all police administrations and stations will be established by 18 August. Policemen will wear the same uniforms and federal insignia until cantonal insignia are determined.
