PRESIDENT TUDJMAN RECEIVES BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY

ZAGREB, July 30 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Wednesday received British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook, the president's Office said in a statement. Tudjman stressed that Croatia had wanted to achieve a peaceful resolution to the crisis in the former Yugoslavia, but it had been subjected to Greater Serbian aggression. Having defended our sovereignty and independence, today we want good relations with all neighbours, but as a central European country, because of negative experiences from the past 70 years, we want no uniting with Balkan countries, Tudjman said. Regarding the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Tudjman reiterated the resoluteness of Croatia to continue its constructive role in the consistent implementation of the Washington and Dayton Agreements, for which it needed a greater support and understanding from the international community. Regarding cooperation with the Hague tribunal, Tudjman stressed that Croatia had of all sides showed the most cooperation, but the Tribunal's approach had to be objective and unbiased. Present at the meeting were Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic and the head of the president's cabinet, Gordan Radin. (hina) lm 302036 MET jul 97
