Elizabeth Rehn on Monday visited the Croat-controlled town of Drvar,
western Bosnia-Herzegovina. #L#
Representatives of the municipal commission and Drvar police
administration informed Rehn about the situation in the town, where some
9,500 Bosnian Croat refugees from 47 Bosnian municipalities were
accommodated, as well as about the problems of Croat refugees, caused by
poor social and financial situation.
They stressed that the municipal commission did not neglect the
problems of persons of Serb nationality, adding that some 20 Serb
families had returned to the town recently.
I am sorry for not being able to visit earlier the area of Drvar,
where many displaced persons were accommodated. They want to but they
cannot return to their homes, Rehn said, expressing understanding for
the problems of Drvar municipal authorities.
I am impressed with the highly professional behaviour of Drvar
police who helped me during my mission, Rehn said.
