ZAGREB, July 17 (Hina) - According to the preliminary estimates, about
200,000 tourists visited Croatia last weekend. This is the largest
tourist wave to enter Croatia this season. More are expected to arrive
in the upcoming weekends, the Croatian Tourist Association said on
Thursday.
A total of 122,000 foreign tourists entered Croatia via three
border crossings in the Istria County last weekend, and 70,000 exited
Croatian assistant commander of the Istrian border Police Robert Boban
Paulovic said.
According to Paulovic, traffic continued without problems, in line
with previous agreements with the Slovenian police. People wait five
minutes at the most and most tourists are coming from central and
western European countries.
Several dozen thousands of tourists arrived in Croatia via border
crossings in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, mostly from central and
western European countries.
Most pressure was felt on Saturday when several rows of vehicles
were formed, but there were no major traffic jams.
The interest of European tourists for Adriatic summer resorts is
visible at border crossings in the Medjimurje County, as well. A total
of 14,800 foreign tourists have arrived in Croatia via road border
crossings in the north.
