Mintas-Hodak is leading a Croatian delegation attending the special
U.N. assembly 'Summit States + 5'.
During the talks, the Croatian Vice Premier pointed out that
despite a formal agreement signed between the Croatian Government, U.N.
High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and U.N. Transitional
Administration in Eastern Slavonia (UNTAES), some non-government
organisations and humanitarian agencies continued to organise the return
of Croatian Serb refugees without previous agreement.
The U.N. held that more should be done on the return of Serbs who
are currently accommodated in the Croatian Danube river region, which
would create space for a speedier return of displaced Croats to the
region, Prendergast said.
Although some progress has been made, more should be done on the
local basis, he added.
