This officially marked the beginning of the final process of apportionment of free stocks to victims of the Homeland War, Croatian Assistant Privatisation Minister Damir Ostovic said in Zagreb on Monday, adding that 350,000 persons were expected to register.

People with the right to free stocks are soldiers invalids of the
Homeland War; families of killed, missing and imprisoned Croatian
soldiers; Croatian soldiers who were imprisoned; peace-time military
invalids; families of killed, imprisoned or missing civilians; civilians
who were imprisoned after 17 August 1990; civilian invalids of the
Homeland War; unemployed who used to work in companies in the former
occupied areas, but who were not granted the status of refugee or
displaced person; displaced persons and refugees-returnees, under the
condition that they return to their homes; and former political
prisoners.
To register, documents of authorised state bodies are needed, and
after submitting the documentation, the Centre is to calculate the
points the person is entitled to. If a person belongs to several
categories, points will be added. Registered persons will receive their
vouchers after the registration is complete with the number of points
which they can count on at auctions.
Vouchers are untransferable and can only be traded for stocks of
certain companies from a published list of companies or investment
funds.
The total value of the offered companies' stocks is about DM 5
billion. Auctions are to begin near the end of the year, Ostovic said.
