ZAGREB, Mar 30 (Hina) - On the occasion of Easter the vice president of the
Croatian Parliament, Jadranka Kosor, on Sunday visited the displaced persons
from the Croatian Danubian area situated in the Zagreb district of Spansko.
Wishing a happy Easter to all displaced who for the sixth year awaited
their return to the Croatian Danubian area, Kosor expressed hope and
confidence that it would be the last Easter they celebrated away from their
homes. Easter was the day of life's victory over death, which was something
the displaced showed best through their struggle, persistence and belief in
their return, she added.
On behalf of all the displaced, Ivan Mihaljevic said that they should
be better informed about the conditions of the return and the
reconstruction, as well as about the status of the families who were formed
in the last six years and intended to return to the Croatian Danubian area.
Without new jobs the return would not be successful, Mihaljevic said,
adding that the displaced wished to return at harvest time in order to
organize a normal living as soon as possible.
Calling on the displaced to take part in the forthcoming elections (13
April) Kosor said that the reconstruction of houses would run parallel to
the revitalization of economy.
The displaced were also wished a happy Easter by the head of the
Office for Displaced Persons and Refugees of the Zagreb Regional Office,
Sonja Klingor.
