MOSTAR, March 24 (Hina) - Mostar Mayor Ivan Prskalo, on Monday
received a French government secretary for humanitarian issues,
Xavier Emmanuelli, accompanied by French Ambassador to Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Yves Gaudeal.
They talked about the situation in the southern Bosnian town
and possibilities of return of refugees in the Mostar area.
Mayor Prskalo expounded on problems that represent obstacles
for the return of people to Mostar. He stressed that about 22,000
Croat refugees from central Bosnia, were being accommodated in the
western half of Mostar, whereas a great number of Moslem refugees,
expelled from Serb-held territories, were in the eastern half of
Mostar.
According to Prskalo, a lack of accommodation facilities, a
big number of jobless as well as insufficient aid of the
international community to the town of Mostar cause problems.
Prskalo and the French officials also considered the
settlement of French debts to Mostar's firm Soko and possibilities
of renewal of their cooperation.
