PRSKALO, ORUCEVIC, GARROD DISCUSS MOSTAR EVENTS

MOSTAR, Mar 3 (Hina) - Mayor of Mostar Ivan Prskalo, his deputy Safet Orucevic and the head of Carl Bildt's Regional Office in Mostar, Martin Garrod, on Monday held a meeting closed to the public. Some progress had been made, Garrod said after this first meeting of the town's authorities following the 10 February incidents. The talks were fair, clear and open, Garrod pointed out, adding that the problems to be solved in Mostar had been defined. These would be the topic of a meeting Garrod arranged for next Monday. Nothing concrete had been agreed on, Prskalo said and pointed out that the 12 February Sarajevo agreement on Mostar should be completely complied with. One of its articles referred to the removal of obstacles on the Bulevar road (separation line), he added. Commenting on this morning's attack on vehicles with Herzeg-Bosnian license plates at a spot with obstacles on the road in Donja Mahala, under Bosniak (Muslim) control, Prskalo said that "if we want to establish living together, Bosniaks should at least enable freedom of movement". Today's talks also touched on the report by a commission of the International Police Task Force on the latest events in Mostar, Prskalo said and reiterated the Croatian side's stand that a more comprehensive report on events preceding the 10 February incident would shed more light on the Mostar events. The establishment of a joint police and the return of displaced persons were the most important issues in the solving of the situation in Mostar and the Bosnian Federation, Orucevic assessed. He confirmed and condemned attacks on Croats on the Sarajevo-Ploce road, as well as this morning's attack on the Bulevar road. He proposed the establishment of joint police patrols, comprised of Croat, Bosniak and international policemen, on the separation line in Mostar. (hina) ha jn 031811 MET mar 97
