The Council "calls upon the government of Croatia to take
further steps to restore a climate of law and order in those
areas," the statement said.
The Security Council adopted the presidential statement after
the recent report of the UN Secretary-General about the rights of
Serbs in the liberated areas.
The Council called on the Croatian government to cooperate
better with international organizations in order to ensure better
living conditions for all residents of these areas.
The Council expressed its concern about the slow return of
Serbs and requested the government to undertake additional efforts
with regard to the issue and to remove all uncertainties regarding
the implementation of the amnesty law.
The Council also expressed concern about the Croatian
government's withholding in cooperating with the International
Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, and requested it to conduct an
investigation about the violation of human rights in military
operations in the summer of 1995.
The Council requested of the UN Secretary-General to submit a
