DUBROVNIK, Mar 1 (Hina) - Military Assistant to UN Secretary General at the
Peace Operations Department, Major General Franklin E. van Kappen, on
Saturday visited Prevlaka, southern Croatia, and afterwards held talks with
the commander of the Croatian Army for that area, Mayor General Milivoj
Petkovic.
Petkovic informed van Kappen about the good relations between the
Croatian Army and the UN forces, i.e. military monitors in Prevlaka and the
Stabilization Force in Ploce. We guaranteed that the Croatian Army would not
cause even the slightest incident and that the UN mission would proceed as
planned, Petkovic said, adding that the Croatian Army would act according to
the stands of Croatia's authorities.
Van Kappen said the main reason of his visit was an inspection of the
UN mission. In southern Croatia he visited the most important points in the
area, where he would stay until 4 March.
