CROATIA UNSATISFIED WITH DRAFT RESOLUTION ON HUMAN RIGHTS

GENEVA, March 18 (Hina) - A Croatian Vice Premier, Ljerka Mintas- Hodak, on Tuesday presented the Croatian Government's activities in human rights' protection and promotion, in Geneva and advocated the establishment of objective criteria for evaluation of states' efforts aimed at meeting highest demands concerning human rights. Ms. Mintas-Hodak delivered a report to the annual assembly of the UN Human Rights Commission, in Geneva, where she stressed that the human rights' protection was a necessary condition for achieving peace and lasting stability in the world. Speaking of the Croatian Government's activities in human rights' protection and promotion as well as of its cooperation with relevant international bodies, Vice Premier Mintas-Hodak said that special attention should be paid to establishment and application of objective criteria for evaluation of efforts governments were taking to meet high standards of human rights' protection and promotion. In this regard, she criticised a UN Commission draft resolution on the human rights situation in the Republic of Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which equalises unjustifiably the human rights situation in those three countries.
