ZAGREB, Mar 19 (Hina) - Croatian Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic on
Wednesday received the director of the Turkish State Archives,
Ismet Binark, who is visiting the Croatian capital on the
invitation of the Croatian State Archives, with the aim of signing
a cooperation agreement for the next three years.
According to Biskupic, his Turkish counterpart, Ismail
Kahraman, invited the Croatian Culture Ministry for a visit, when a
programme for cultural, educational and scientific cooperation
between the Croatian and Turkish governments would be signed.
Today's meeting would fortify the good relations between the
two countries in the fields of culture and science, Biskupic added.
The signing of a cooperation agreement between the two state
archives was very significant, he assessed, and also informed
Binark that Croatia would soon pass a law on archives similar to
European laws.
Binark also pointed to the significance of the agreement to be
signed, and added that many documents referring to the history of
Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina were filed in the Turkish archives.
Croatian experts could sojourn in Turkey and peruse the materials
for studies, Binark stressed.
He presented the Croatian Culture Ministry with an atlas
dating back to 1789, in which Croatia's borders at the time of the
Ottoman Empire can be seen.
