SARAJEVO, Jan 2 (Hina) - The International Police Task Force
(IPTF) in Bosnia-Herzegovina said on Thursday it would propose
tougher measures to prevent forcible apartment evictions in the
southern Mostar area.
Demands would be made for local police to conduct an
investigation into each eviction case together with international
police, UN spokesman Patrick Swenson said in Sarajevo.
If it is established that someone has moved into an
apartment illegally, we will demand that local police take
necessary action immediately, and if a local police officer
refuses to do so, we will demand his dismissal from service,
Swenson stressed.
He announced that international police would step up patrols
in those parts of Mostar in which expulsions had been reported.
