ZAGREB, Dec 14 (Hina) - The Croatian National Sabor's House of
Counties on Monday endorsed several bills which were discussed by
the House of Representatives during last week's session.
Among others, the "green light" was given to a bill on changes and
amendments to the Income Tax Law, whereby untaxed income would rise
from US$129 to US$161, with progressively increased deductions for
children.
The House of Counties also gave the "green light" to a bill
stipulating that next year's contributions for pension insurance
would be paid by a uniform rate of 21.50 percent.
The House of Counties also voted in favour of changes to the Law on
Rights of Former Political Prisoners which would increase pensions
for former political prisoners.
Labour and Social Welfare Minister Joso Skara reiterated that the
said Law, passed in 1991, stipulates that the years of service
necessary for retirement will be acknowledged in double duration
for the period of time spent in detention and prison. The Law also
recognises the right to indemnity for material and non-material
damage.
