ZAGREB, Dec 14 (Hina) - A Croatian independent union of high school +employees started a one-day strike on Monday morning.+ The union, a member of a negotiating committee of five school +unions, demands a 12 per cent salary bonus in 1999, negotiations +with the employers and implementation of parliamentary decisions +on a selective salary increase.+ The strike is to go on until 8pm today.+ Although they supported it, primary school unions in the +negotiating committee are not participating in the strike. +According to these unions, the reason for this is a weakened +position of primary school unions, caused by the non-participation +of the majority union - the Union of Croatian Teachers (SHU) - in the +activities of the negotiating committee.+ The SHU is negotiating salaries in 1999 with civil servants unions +and the Government.+(hina) rml +
