ZAGREB, Dec 13 (Hina) - Ahead of Monday's announced school unions'
strike, High School Union chairwoman Vesna Kanizaj protested
against Croatian Television's "unobjective informing of the
Croatian public regarding the strike, by stating false union's
requests to the Government".
Kanizaj said professors in high schools decided to stage a strike
because they have for eight years been unable to establish a serious
social dialogue with the Government and realise their rights.
The union also requested endorsement from Sabor's MPs.
The strike, according to Kanizaj, is also a "mild warning" to other
school unions that it was their responsibility whether they would
sign a six-month salary moratorium in schools, as the Government
had suggested.
