ZAGREB, Nov 16 (Hina) - A new round of negotiations over the raise of
salaries was held on Monday between the Negotiations Committee of
five school trade unions and the Croatian Ministry of Education.
No press releases were given after the closed meeting.
Miroslav Doresic, Deputy Education Minister, did not comment on the
subject of the talks, but did reiterate that a selective approach to
salaries was not an issue to be negotiated with the unions, but a
subject that should be considered in a legal context.
He also said that he had invited the school unions to participate in
negotiations between the Government and other unions representing
employees whose salaries were also financed from the national
budget, including the Croatian Teachers Trade Union.
The leaders of the school unions refused to give any comments after
the negotiations.
The five school unions held a one-day strike in primary and
secondary schools on November 12, demanding negotiations with the
Government over a selective approach to salaries.
