ZAGREB, Dec 10 (Hina) - Croatian Social Democratic Party's (SDP)
president Ivica Racan said on Thursday that he had done everything
in his power for six Opposition parties to "survive", however, he
personally requested a revision of rules that have regulated their
activities so far.
"I am not dissatisfied with what has been agreed", Racan told
reporters but did not specify the results of a three-hour meeting
between presidents of the six opposition parties, held on
Wednesday. He only revealed that he did not support the idea of the
Opposition Six having a spokesperson.
Racan told reporters that the six opposition parties would report
the results of the Wednesday talks next week.
The survival of the Opposition Six will depend on the continuation
of mutual dialogue, Racan added. He expressed belief that one would
have to make progress and open public dialogue on the political
crisis in the Croatian society.
When they established the opposition bloc, the Social Democratic
Party (SDP), Liberal Party (LS), Croatian Social Liberal Party
(HSLS), Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS), and the Croatian
People's Party (HNS) agreed that all decisions would be made by
consensus. They also agreed that party heads would rotate as
spokespersons.
The current spokesman Vlado Gotovac told reporters that the three
hour meeting did not discuss the consensus issue.
