ZAGREB, Dec 4 (Hina) - International representatives gathered at
the Conference on Reconstruction and Development of Croatia which
is taking place in Zagreb on Friday and Saturday showed interest in
certain projects presented to them, but have as yet offered no
concrete financial assistance, experts presenting reconstruction
projects said on Friday.
Some three hundred representatives of the international community
saw thousands of reconstruction projects at the conference, not
only for Croatia's war-ravaged areas, but also for other parts of
the country.
It is the general view of the experts that there will be no donations
for the projects, but credits and investments are possible.
Only experts presenting the Sibenik-Knin County said that
Switzerland, Germany and Norway showed interest in the development
of infrastructure and demining.
However, representatives of the Croatian Mine Clearing Centre said
they did not expect any donations.
"We do not need expert help because we have trained personnel, what
we need is financial assistance," they said.
According to their estimates, in ideal circumstances, Croatia
could demine its territory in 15 years.
Experts presenting projects for the reconstruction of the eastern
Croatian town of Vukovar and the Vukovar-Srijem County said their
projects were costly, and added that it seemed that the
international community representatives were interested in
smaller projects.
