ZAGREB, Dec 3 (Hina) - The Bosnian Serb army commander Gen. Radislav
Krstic, who was arrested on Wednesday by the Stabilisation Force in
Bosnia-Herzegovina, has still not been transferred to the
detention centre of the International Criminal Tribunal for Former
Yugoslavia (ICTY).
The plane, which is to carry Krstic to the Hague, could not take off
from the Tuzla airport (northern BH) on Thursday due to bad weather
conditions, the ICTY press centre reported today.
The Serb commander should be flown to the Hague this afternoon or on
Friday. Once in the Hague, Krstic will be brought before the ICTY to
submit his plea.
A former commander of the Bosnian Serb army's Drina River corps,
Krstic is the highest-ranking Serb official to be arrested so far on
war crimes charges.
Krstic's indictment, which contains charges of genocide against
the Bosnian Muslim residents from Srebrenica (eastern Bosnia), was
signed by Judge Florence Mumba on November 2. The indictment had
remained sealed until Krstic's arrest, which took place only one
month after the indictment was confirmed.
