Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) is an active officer of
the Republika Srpska Army and was positioned to high military duty,
Bosnian Serb's official Banja Luka radio reported Wednesday
afternoon.
According to the radio citing the Bosnian Serb entity's military
leadership, General Krstic is the commander of the Fifth Corps
whose headquarters are located in Sokoc in eastern Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
The radio said Krstic was apprehended while travelling from
Bijeljina to Brcko without being accompanied.
The Serb general was allegedly travelling in a vehicle with only his
driver.
Belgrade's news agency Beta reported Wednesday that a senior
officer of the Fifth Corps of the Republika Srpska Army could not
confirm whether his superior, Major-General Radislav Krstic, had
been apprehended.
General Krstic is the third active senior officer of the Republika
Srpska Army to have been apprehended in the past two years.
International troops arrested General Djordje Djukic and
Lieutenant Colonel Aleksa Krsmanovic near Sarajevo at the
beginning of 1996. Having spent several months in the ICTY's jail,
the two were released.
