PRISTINA, Dec 2 (Hina) - The Kosovo Association of Albanian
Political Prisoners on Wednesday warned about indications of a
decrease in international community pressures on Belgrade.
The Association added in a statement that the aggressiveness of the
Serbian regime through the re-deployment of forces in Kosovo and
deploying new troops from Serbia was the strongest evidence of
this.
The Association also warned about permissions for 25,000 Serbian
troops to remain in Kosovo, instead of the 18,000 as envisaged by an
agreement signed by US negotiator Richard Holbrooke and Yugoslav
President Slobodan Milosevic.
The Association of Albanian Political Prisoners held that patrols
of Kosovo roads by Serbian police accompanied by OSCE verifiers
represented evidence that it should not be expected of the
verifiers to achieve sufficient security even for the part of the
population that have returned to their homes.
In the statement the Association requested of the international
community to maintain its strict approach towards Belgrade,
because the regime "understands nothing besides power".
