ZAGREB, Nov 29 (Hina) - The weapons confiscated on Saturday by the
Croatian police in the central Adriatic town of Sibenik came from
Bosnia-Herzegovina, both from the BH Federation and Republika
Srpska, Interior Minister Ivan Penic said in an interview for
Croatian Television (HTV) central news broadcast on Sunday.
Last night Interior Ministry teams severed the largest arms-
smuggling chain in Croatia, arresting three persons. Two of them
are from Vitez and Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina) while the third
one is from Sibenik.
An international arrest warrant has been issued for another two
persons and one of them is of Albanian nationality, Penic said.
According to the available information, the weapons were intended
for Kosovo. Croatian police have already seized smuggled weapons on
several occasions. "The last large shipment was discovered in
Split, and there is this one in Sibenik", Penic said.
The Interior Minister recalled that the Italian police had also
confiscated weapons which had been smuggled on ships to Italy and
further to Albania and Kosovo.
The Sibenik case is a classic example of organised crime, but it may
be related to international terrorism, Penic concluded.
The listing of confiscated weapons is being completed. There is
still no report on the total amount since the police are checking
new warehouses in the Sibenik port, HTV reported.
