STATE AUDIT BUREAU SUBMITS REPORT TO SABOR

ZAGREB, Nov 25 (Hina) - The State Audit Bureau has registered improvements and less irregularities in the auditing procedures for 1997, with most of the economic subjects acting in line with Bureau's findings. The irregularities mostly refer to the transfer of assets from one position to another without the approval of the Finance Ministry, as well as to the lack of property registers, failure to abide by the regulation on purchase of goods and services, State Auditor Sima Krasic said before the Sabor's House of Representatives on Wednesday. The situation has also improved in the units of local government and self-government, which all adopt budgets and make financial reports. The irregularities registered in these units refer to unauthorised spending, purchase without public competition and borrowings which exceed permitted amounts. The State Audit report has 17,000 pages and has been prepared for parliament on 666 pages. State Auditor Krasic has again warned of the lack of qualified employees in the State Audit Bureau adding the Bureau was employing young people who would be trained for the responsible task of state auditing.
