AGANI DOES NOT EXPECT NEGOTIATIONS WITH BELGRADE SOON

PRISTINA, Nov 20 (Hina) - Head of the Kosovo Albanian negotiation team, Fehmi Agani, said on Friday that Albanians do not expect negotiations with Belgrade to resume any time soon because the views of both sides are still too far apart. Agani said US peace mediator Christopher Hill would return next week to Kosovo to resume talks on the most recent American plan for a resolution to the crisis. Hill and other participants in the peace process awaits hard work in bringing the stances of Belgrade and Pristina closer, without which there can be no dialogue, Agani said. The Kosovo government in exile on Friday issued a statement saying that only negotiations led by international mediators could lead to a just solution to the status of Kosovo. The government also requested that the Albanian-Serb negotiations be held in a neutral country. The Kosovo government warned that the regime in Belgrade continued to violate the basic international commitments, hindering the active implementation of the UN Security Council mandate, which guarantees to the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) undisturbed investigation of crimes committed in Kosovo.
