ZAGREB, Nov 19 (Hina) - British Minister of Commerce Brian Wilson
and Croatian Economy Minister Nenad Porges met in Zagreb on
Thursday.
The two officials discussed the trade deficit between Croatia and
European Union countries, Croatia's aspirations towards opening
its economy to EU countries, its admission to the World Trade
Organisation and British investments in Croatia and its power
production sector.
Wilson said the meeting tackled the strengthening of trade
relations between Croatia and Great Britain, as well as Croatia's
relations towards the European Union. He described the talks as
very open and added he hoped they would contribute to improving the
relations between the two countries.
There is enough room for the development of British-Croatian
economic relations, said Wilson stressing the interest of British
companies in the construction of power plants in Croatia and his
wish for the Croatian tourism market to regain the importance it had
in Great Britain before the Homeland war.
We have opened a lot of topics and agreed that it is best for
countries in transition to join global courses and liberalisation
processes, Porges said.
