The British Government and companies are very interested in investing in Croatia, Wilson said. He emphasised that British companies were especially interested in construction of power plants in Croatia, but also that the British market was interested in Croatian products. Wilson was accompanied by high representatives of two British companies - Peter Hughes, executive director of the Powergen International and Tim Fischer, vice president of the Investment Projects of Alstoma. The two companies have offered the Croatian Power Supply to invest about US$1 billion into the construction of a 700 million-MW power plant in northern Adriatic. The British companies have found Croatia sufficiently politically and economically stable for the investment, Wilson stressed. The British minister also spoke today in Zagreb at a business forum sponsored by the Central European Initiative (CEI). Minister Wilson stressed that Britain would back Croatia's bid for membership in the World Trade Organisation. (hina) mm mr/rml
