"PROJECT 2000" AT ERICSSON NIKOLA TESLA

ZAGREB, Nov 17 (Hina) - The Ericsson Nikola Tesla (ETK) company has initiated "Project 2000" as have all companies which belong to the Swedish Ericsson concern. The project is to deal with overcoming the problem of the "millennium bug". Twelve projects in all have been initiated regarding the question involving a special expert team, the ETK reported on Tuesday. As advised by the information systems and information technology head, Toni Lugaric who is also the ETK team leader for the project, ETK is at an advantage because it is now in the phase of introducing a completely new support system (SAP/R 3) which includes a solution to the calendar problem. The system offers support monitoring of production, supply, planning, financing, personnel management etc. Similar applications will be introduced in other fields too including salaries, work timetables, workbooks, shareholders evidence etc. ETK's assistant director of information systems and information technology, Dr. Dubravko Cej, estimated that the calendar problem was a very costly exercise involving several dozens of thousands of working hours so far.
