civilians in Croatia during World War Two, has been placed in Zagreb
County Prison hospital for medical examination on Tuesday.
Her court-appointed attorney, Branko Seric, said on Tuesday that
his client's health condition had not deteriorated, and that she
was in hospital only for medical examination. Nada Sakic is
suffering from Parkinson's disease and has mild heart problems.
According to her attorney, during this week Sakic will decide
whether she will remain in the prison's hospital or will return to
Zagreb's County Prison.
In July 1998 Croatia requested Argentinean authorities to
extradite Nada Esperanza Sakic for an investigating procedure at
the Zagreb County Court.
Sakic has been in custody of the Zagreb County Court since her
November 2, 1998 extradition.
She is under the suspicion that, as a member of Ustasha units in the
women's wing of the Stara Gradiska concentration camp between late
1942 and 1945 she tortured prisoners, thus causing the death of
many.
