ZAGREB, Oct 21 (Hina) - House of Representatives MPs on Wednesday
endorsed changes to the Law on Fire-Fighting aimed at ensuring a
better situation in fire-fighting in general, and in voluntary
fire-fighting in particular.
The changes were proposed by Franjo Greguric, whose motion includes
the establishment of voluntary fire-fighting units in all
municipalities and towns without them, and higher earmarking for
voluntary fire-fighting in county, municipal, and town budgets.
The endorsed changes come in the wake of the huge damage caused by
last summer's bush-fires along the coastline.
Today the MPs also discussed a bill on the ratification of a loan
agreement between Croatia and the International Bank for
Reconstruction and Development, for a project on the
reconstruction of eastern Croatia.
The World Bank would assist in the reconstruction with a DEM74
million 15-year loan, with a five-year grace period, and a 0.29
percent interest rate.
The Lower House will continue the 34th session on Thursday.
