VUKOVAR, Oct 16 (Hina) - The remains of Major General Blago Zadro
were buried on Friday with high civil and military honours at
Vukovar's New Cemetery.
Zadro was killed seven years ago during the Homeland War, while
defending the eastern Croatian town from Serbian aggression. His
remains were exhumed last summer, along with 937 victims from a mass
grave at the New Cemetery.
Zadro posthumously received a major general's rank under a decision
of Croatian President and Croatian army supreme commander Franjo
Tudjman.
Deputy Defence Minister Lt. Gen. Kresimir Cosic expressed sympathy
on Tudjman's behalf to Zadro's family, relatives and friends.
Zadro's patriotism will remain a permanent inspiration for all
Croatian generations, the Croatian Sabor (parliament) president's
envoy, vice president Vladimir Seks said at the funeral.
Addresses were also made by Deputy Interior Minister Zlatko Gledec,
and by the Croatian Defenders Minister assistant Darinko Mikulic.
Also present at the funeral were Vukovar-Srijem County Prefect
Rudolf Koening and Vukovar Mayor Vladimir Stengl.
