SARAJEVO, Oct 8 (Hina) - Investigators of the Bosnian state
commission for tracing persons gone missing during the recent war
on Thursday discovered near Zvornik one of the largest mass graves
in the country believed to contain the bodies of at least 200
Muslims killed in 1992.
According to a report of Television Bosnia-Herzegovina, the mass
grave was discovered in Glumina, a village 10km west of Zvornik, a
town in the Bosnian Serb entity in eastern Bosnia.
Taking part in exhumations are also experts of the Doctors for Human
Rights organisation.
The bodies of 102 persons were discovered on the first day, but the
head of the commission for the missing, Amor Masovic, believes the
figure will reach 200.
"We have reason to believe that we are working on the largest mass
grave discovered so far", said Masovic.
It is assumed the mass grave contains the remains of victims from
Zvornik Municipality, he added. The remains are relatively well
preserved and identification, to be carried out in Tuzla, is
expected not to be too difficult.
The exhumations were followed by representatives of the Bosnian
Serb entity's commission for the missing and local police.
