ZAGREB, Oct 14 (Hina) - According to a decision adopted by the
President of the Republic, Franjo Tudjman, former Croatian Army
Chief-of-Staff Pavao Miljavac has been transferred to reserve
forces and appointed Croatia's new Defence Minister.
According to the decision, Vice-Admiral Davor Domazet has been
appointed new Croatian Army Chief-of-Staff, while Major General
Damir Krsticevic has been appointed Domazet's deputy.
Defence Minister Pavao Miljavac was born in 1953 in Maletici (Duga
Resa municipality). He graduated from the Zagreb Faculty of Textile
Technology. He is married and father to three children.
In September 1990, as a member of the Interior Ministry reserve
forces, Miljavac joined preparations for the country's defence. In
June, 1991, he became a member of a regional crisis headquarters and
in October joined the Croatian armed forces.
In the course of his military career, Miljavac held offices at all
levels of command - he was the Karlovac Military District Chief-of-
Staff and Commander, assistant to the Croatian Armed Forces'
Headquarters commissioner for Homeland Guard issues, the
Headquarters' deputy commissioner and then commissioner.
Vice-Admiral Davor Domazet was born in 1948 in Sinj.
He graduated in 1971 from the Split Navy Academy and in 1984
graduated from the Command-Headquarters School of Tactics and
Operation. In 1990 and 1991 he completed the War School of
Strategy.
He has specialised in anti-submarine and anti-missile defence. he
is married and has two children.
Domazet joined the Croatian Army on July 1, 1991. He was appointed
Croatian armed forces' commissioner of the Strategic Research
Administration, deputy head of the Intelligence Centre, head of the
Intelligence Centre Administration and deputy Armed Forces' Chief-
of-Staff.
Major General Damir Krsticevic was born in 1969 in Vrgorac. he
graduated in 1991 from a land forces school and joined the Croatian
Army.
During the Homeland war Krsticevic was commander of the Fourth
Guards Brigade and took part in the military operations
"Maslenica", "Winter 94", "Summer" and "Storm".
After the war, he became commander of the 5th Military District and
was sent to attend a one-year course at a US military school.
He is married and has two children.
All three newly-appointed officials have received decorations for
bravery and their contribution in the Homeland War and in the
establishment of the Croatian State.
