SARAJEVO, Oct 12 (Hina) - All US officials in Bosnia-Hezegovina
left the territory of Republika Srpska on Monday following a
warning issued by the State Deprtment.
Spokeswoman for the US Embassy in Sarajevo Jennet Garvy told Hina
today that the warning on possible danger for US citizens on the
territory of the Bosnian Serb entity referred primarily to those
whose stay in Bosnia-Herzegovina was of a business nature.
The US Embassy could not order ordinary US citizens to leave the
Bosnian Serb entity but it certainly woud advise them to do so,
Garvy told Hina.
The State Department instruction on travelling through Republika
Srpska was issued due to an increased safety risk caused by the
deteriorating situation in Kosovo and possible NATO operations
against Yugoslavia.
Germany too has withdrawn its diplomatic staff from the Bosnian
Serb entity and closed its embassy in Banja Luka.
Members of non-government organisations have also left the Bosnian
Serb entity due to numerous threats they received from radical
groups over the past several days.
