SARAJEVO, Oct 8 (Hina) - The Independent Media Commission (IMC) in
Bosnia-Herzegovina (BH) on Thursday called on all media in the
Bosnian Serb entity to immediately report any attempt made at
obstructing their work and the rebroadcasting of foreign radio and
television programmes.
According to an IMC statement, the commission is concerned about
announcements made by Yugoslav authorities that they would ban
foreign rebroadcasts.
It is an unacceptable attempt at imposing censorship, contrary to
Article 19 of the universal declaration on human rights which is a
constituent part of the BH Constitution, said the statement.
The IMC hopes there will be no attempts at implementing such
censorship in BH and calls on all media organisations and
associations to as soon as possible report any censoring attempts.
Yugoslav Deputy Premier Vojislav Seselj recently accused radio
stations in Yugoslavia of working against the interests of their
country by rebroadcasting programmes of Voice of America and the
BBC, and threatened with repressive measures.
