DUBROVNIK, Oct 6 (Hina) - Construction of the Dubrovacka river
(southern Croatia), will commence on Friday, October 9 and it is
expected that the opening ceremony will be conducted by Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman, a representative of Croatian Roads told
journalists on Tuesday in Dubrovnik.
The Croatian Roads representative reported that preparatory works
for the bridge's construction began on September 1.
The bridge is to be 484 metres long and 13 metres wide. It is
estimated that the construction will amount to 36,950.00 German
marks. Funds have been secured by the Croatian Government in
cooperation with the German Berliner Bank.
The road is to be constructed by the German company "Walter Bau"
from Augsubrg in association with the Split based "Konstruktor-
inzenjeringom.
The bridge is expected to be completed by August 2001.
