PODGORICA, Sept 27 (Hina) - Montenegro is very interested in
constructing the Adriatic highway which would run from Trieste to
Greece via the Croatian coastal towns of Rijeka, Split and
Dubrovnik, through Montenegro and Albania, and which would
represent one of the most important roads connecting the West and
East.
According to the Montenegrin Transport and Maritime Affairs
Minister, Jusuf Kalamperovic, the construction of the highway
which is already 'drawn' into the physical plan of Montenegro, will
depend on when Croatia will begin the construction of its part of
the highway to the Montenegro border and when Albania will
construct a highway towards Macedonia and Greece.
"I believe that Croatia's expediting the activities surrounding
the construction of the Zagreb-Dubrovnik highway will lead to an
increased interest of the European Union to cooperate and provide
credits for the construction of the Adriatic highway,"
Kalamperovic said.
