ZAGREB, Oct 6 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Tuesday
received attendants of the Republic of Croatia Armed Forces War
School: General Mile Cuk, major generals; Milenko Filipovic, Jozo
Milicevic, Ivan Kapular, Marijan Marekovic, Slavko Baric,
Commodore Ivica Tolic, brigadier generals; Renato Romic, Dragan
Bagaric, Josip Stojkovic, Ivica Obrovac, brigadiers; Zarko Pesa
and members of the Croatian Defence Council; General Stanko Sopta
and Major General Mijo Jelic who were all invited to attend the
school pursuant to a signed international agreement.
Congratulating them, President Tudjman stressed that they had been
chosen to be educated at the War School because they were the
carriers of the defence of this country and had won the war and as
such were capable of leading the army in peacetime.
Peace-time Croatia needs to develop an armed force which will be
complimentary to Western standards and NATO. Keeping in mind
however, national and state interests and based on experience from
the Homeland War and the all-encompassing history of Croatia, said
Tudjman.
Accompanying the president were Defence Minister Andrija Hebrang,
Croatian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Pavao Miljavac, Chief
inspector of defence, General Ante Gotovina, Commander of the
Croatian "Petar Zrinski" Military Academy, General Josip Lucic,
Commander of the Croatian Armed Forces War School, General Franjo
Feldi, Chief-of-staff of the Presidential Military Cabinet, Major
General Darko Grdic and the president's Aide-de-camp Major General
Kresimir Kaspar.
