MARIJA BISTRICA, Oct 3 (Hina) - Pope John Paul II arrived in Marija
Bistrica, Croatia's premier Marian shrine, where he will beatify
late Croatian Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac around 9.40am on
Saturday.
The Holy Father's arrival was warmly welcomed by several hundred
faithful, who have been gathering along roads leading to the shrine
since last evening.
The Pope arrived in Croatia on Friday. This is his second visit to
Croatia, and the first to Marija Bistrica. He will depart tomorrow
afternoon from the southern Croatian port of Split, where he will
celebrate mass on the occasion of the town's 1700th anniversary.
