DUBROVNIK, Oct 1 (Hina) - A two-day international meeting on
diplomacy in transition countries opened at the Inter-University
Centre in Dubrovnik on Thursday.
The seminar has gathered about 70 representatives from 13 member-
countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI) as well as from
the Council of Europe, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands
and Great Britain.
"The scheduled topics indicate that we are aware of the
professionalisation of the foreign diplomatic service but also of
its further advancement", said Vera Tadic, Croatian Foreign
Minister's envoy at the seminar.
It is because of this that Croatia established a Diplomatic Academy
in June of 1995, which is developing a successful cooperation with
similar international insitutions, Tadic added.
The seminar, organised by the Foreign Ministry's Diplomatic
Academy in cooperation with the Inter-University Centre, will
focus on the exchange of experience and information.
The meeting is also to propose the establishment of a diplomatic
education network, which would serve for gathering all relevant
information from the area of diplomacy via the Internet.
