ZAGREB, Sept 29 (Hina) - Tuesday, September 29, is the last day for
parliamentary representatives to submit their asset declarations.
MPs are obliged to register their assets pursuant to the Law on the
Rights and Obligations of State Officials.
The majority of MPs submitted their asset declarations to the
Office of the President of the Croatian Parliament last week.
Some MPs were today still handing in their asset declarations prior
to and after taking their posts.
Just prior to 1pm, the Parliament President's Office received the
asset declaration for President Franjo Tudjman, who is required by
law to register his assets with the Parliament President.
The details contained in asset declarations for MPs and other state
officials will be placed on the Internet.
MPs were required to sign three various forms - a declaration on
assets at the time of taking up their current duty, and a
declaration on assets at the start of their current mandate. The
third statement on assets should be signed at the end of MPs'
mandates.
All state officials nominated by the Parliament are obliged to
register their assets with the Parliament President.
The Croatian Prime Minister and other government members who have
the status of state officials submitted their asset declarations in
August. The majority of these have already been released via media
outlets.
