ZAGREB, Sept 27 (Hina) - The Day of the Croatian Police Forces was
marked officially on Saturday night with a concert in Zagreb's
concert hall "Vatroslav Lisinski".
Expressing his best wishes to all Interior Ministry members for
their day, Interior Minister Ivan Penic emphasised that the police
forces grew and developed together with the state.
Examples where armed resistance to an act of aggression originated
within police forces and was joined by a large number of citizens
are rare in history, Penic said.
"This is exactly what happened and what was of crucial importance in
the establishment of Croatia's armed forces - respectable army and
police units which through numerous operations put an end to the
aggression and created conditions for the development of the
state", Penic said.
The Croatian police force have successfully completed another
important task in the Croatian Danube River region and established
law and order on Croatia's eastern border by professionally and
consistently implementing the policy of the state leadership,
Penic said.
The Interior Minister also stressed the successful cooperation
with colleagues from neighbouring and other European countries in
fighting all forms of crime.
