OSIJEK, Sept 16 (Hina) - Charges against two people will be filed
over last week's explosion in the eastern Croatian village of
Tenja, the Osijek-Baranja Police Department reported on
Wednesday.
The two suspects - A.M. (39) and Z.G. (27) - are employed with a
private firm for clearing mines in Tenja, near Osijek. They will be
charged for placing the lives and properties of others in extreme
jeopardy.
According to a police report, the two suspects placed a large
quantity of explosives in the basement of a war-damaged family
house owned by B.G. from Tenja. The explosive device went off at 1am
on September 9 which caused further damage to the house.
The two suspects left the explosive device, because the next day
they were to clear mines in a nearby area.
Osijek-Baranja County police in cooperation with local officers
from Tenja and the bomb squad noticed a larger crater in a basement
of the house, which suggests the use of a large quantity of military
explosives.
The collected remains of the explosive device have been sent to the
Croatian Interior Ministry's Criminal Forensics Centre.
