PRISTINA, Sept 25 (Hina) - At least seven Kosovo Albanians were
killed by Serb forces during a Serb offensive on the village of
Verbovac near Glogovac, the Kosovo Information Centre reported on
Friday.
The victims include an 81-year-old woman.
Three corpses were mutilated and the remaining corpses were left in
front of the mosque in Verbovac.
The village is still under police control and it is not possible to
identify the remaining three victims.
The Information Centre reported that 70 Albanians had been arrested
while 100 out of 160 houses in the village had been destroyed or
razed to the ground.
The Democratic Alliance of Kosovo in Glogovac reported that Serb
forces had killed several Albanians in an offensive near Glogovac.
The same sources stated that almost 300 Albanians have been held
captive by police forces in Glogovac for three days now.
An eye witness who himself had been held captive, reported that the
police was abusing Albanians during their interrogations.
The Kosovo Committee for the Protection of Human Rights and
Freedoms highlighted the dramatic situation being experienced by
thousands of Albanian citizens, mostly women and children from
several villages in the Drenica region.
The Committee appealed to the International Committee of the Red
Cross and U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees to do everything in
their power to assist Albanian civilians, especially the wounded.
